British Judo Grading System

Club gradings are held at the dojo at regular intervals throughout the year. We run 3-4 gradings a year and Judoka will be invited to grade typically between 1-3 times a year.

Judoka will be invited to grade when their coaches decide that they are ready for their next grade promotion. To be considered for grade promotion judoka need to be training regularly, showing improvements in randori and following the recommended competition pathway.

During the grading examination judoka will be asked to demonstrate the techniques required by the BJA syllabus, some personal choice techniques and show a understanding of judo terminology.
