About Chichester Judo Club

Chichester Ronin Judo Club was formed by Ralph Smith, a former Student of Japanese master of judo Gunji Koizumi. Smith studied at the legendary martial arts club ‘The Budokwai’ before moving to Chichester and forming the Chichester Judo Club in the late 1960’s.

The Club received ‘Clubmark’, the Sport England’s Kitemark for Excellence in the Community which allowed the club to access funding for a new purpose built Dojo which was completed in 2011 and since has been new home. 

We are proud to say we are still a Community Club and are ran by our Volunteer Members, who are qualified with First aid and current DBS
